Taconic Distillery, established in 2013, is a purveyor of fine craft spirits located in the Hudson Valley of New York. We handcraft our award-winning bourbon and rye whiskies in small batches using the finest ingredients, including grains grown in New York and natural spring water from our farm. Inspired by hunting and fishing, Taconic embraces a passion for the outdoors and that passion is imprinted on all our spirits. This expression was aged for an undisclosed period of time prior to being finished in Mizunara oak casks.
Nose: Boozy up front but it quickly dissipates (typical of a young whiskey). Toasted malt, vanilla, Werther's Candy, stewed fruit and plenty of musty oak.
Palate: Thinner mouthfeel with that prominent Mizunara Oak presence. Stewed raisins and plums, vanillans and Christmas spices that balance off the sweeter notes.
Finish: Medium-long and spicy. Oak funk on the back palate.
